The Company covers all Peruvian ports, from Peru's major international sea port gateway, El Callao, to Peru's port in one of the world's most unique positions, Iquitos, which is on the upper Amazon, at 2784 km from the mouth of the river, 1561 km up the river from Manaus (Brazil), the next major Amazon city with a port. La Hanseatica has a very unique history and a tight bond with the German maritime industry. After World War II the German shipping companies had all but disappeared. Around 1950 that the German merchant navy started its reorganization so on January 16th, 1953, a group of Peruvian-German businessmen bet their future the resurgence of the German merchant navy and founded La Hanseatica, its name itself related to the Hanseatic league of German trade and shipping cities. It was a gamble that has paid off.

In La Hanseatica's maiden year the renowned German lines Hamburg-Amerika Linie Nord-Deutscher Lloyd awarded their agency business in Peru, which continues today under the name of Hapag-Lloyd after their 1970 merger.

Peru is a very unique place to handle project business.
