A word from GPLN: Newsletter Issue 106 / September-October 2025
Dear Reader,
GPLN recently exhibited with a stand at Breakbulk Americas in Houston/TX, together with GPLN members Fox Brasil/Brazil, Go Gauge Logistics/India, Green Worldwide Shipping/USA, Global Shipping Services/USA, and ITM Projects/Mexico.
However, even so this event was well visited (6,250+ visitors, marking a 10% increase year over year) the sentiment among the exhibitors and visitors was low because of the high Government tariffs imposed to several countries, including Central- and South America. Besides this negative effect, the US government pulled also off funding from offshore wind projects and has continued its assault on the country’s offshore wind energy industry, withdrawing USD 679 million in funding for 12 projects.
Meanwhile, China is forging ahead and is forecast to hold 45 percent of global offshore wind capacity by 2030. With the US stepping back, the odds of building a rival renewables supply chain in the US are slim. Western OEMs are returning to China’s favorable business climate, and around 25 percent of turbine component manufacturing sites for European-certified platforms are now located there.
As announced earlier, our next Annual General Meeting will take place from June 12-14, 2026 at the Hilton Hotel in Rotterdam, just ahead of Breakbulk Europe in Rotterdam which is scheduled from June 16-18, 2026. We have chosen these dates that delegates can combine both events which is not only time but also cost saving. We are expecting again a high attendance of around 200 delegates which will be a great opportunity for networking.
More details and delegate registration, exclusively for GPLN members, are available on our dedicated website: https://gpln.net/agm-2026/
The next upcoming event where GPLN will exhibit together with several GPLN members is Breakbulk Middle East, scheduled from February 4-5, 2026 at WTC in Dubai.
Furthermore, GPLN members interested in sharing our large stand at Breakbulk Europe in Rotterdam (June 16-18, 2026) should contact us well in advance as only a few more spots are available and given away on a first-come, first-served basis.
Finally, GPLN also secured a stand in a prime location at the new Breakbulk Asia event in Singapore which will take place from November 18-19, 2026. We still have some spots available for GPLN members who wish to share our booth.
Best regards,
Your GPLN Team
Navigators Shipping and Logistica execute Oil Field cargo operation

GPLN member Navigators Projects Team from UAE recently managed a complex oil field cargo movement with utmost precision and efficiency. The scope of work encompassed the collection of import ocean freight from Europe to the Middle East, secure storage at our facility within the Jebel Ali Freezone, and subsequent transportation to the client’s designated location.
Given the nature of this ongoing project, which involves consecutive cargo arrivals at the Port of Jebel Ali, a dedicated project team was assigned to oversee the complete end-to-end process-from port handling to final site delivery. The shipment comprised critical machinery and components essential to oil field operations, where adherence to timelines, stringent safety protocols, and meticulous handling were of paramount importance.
“Managing shipments of this scale demands coordination across multiple touchpoints, and our team takes pride in ensuring every stage is executed flawlessly. For us, it’s not just about moving cargo-it’s about delivering trust,” commented the team leader.

Global Shipping Services handle Umbilical Reels

Over the past few months, the project team at Global Shipping Services LLC, a GPLN member from Houston/Texas in USA, have been moving Umbilical Reels from Europe to USA.
Originating in Austria, the cargo was trucked to Bremerhaven Port in Germany and then shipped to US Ports for delivery to customers facility. So far (on-going project thru 2026), we have moved 181 Reels.
Due to the “delicate nature” of these Umbilical’s, we have had Marine Warranty Surveyors on site in Austria, and at the port of Bremerhaven. And for staging and reloading to Mafi’s, again at the Port of Discharge, for the transload from Mafi to truck for final delivery.
Each reel was loaded inside an enclosed curtain sided trailer to protect it from the elements, shrink-wrapped and tarped all the way. Each reel had a dimension of 3.2m x 2.4m x 3.2m and a weight of 15,000 kg each.
This ongoing project is involving and requiring a lot of time for tracking each reel via Serial # throughout the whole supply chain from origin to destination.
Global Shipping Services deliver heavy pieces

It was a very close coordination with the job site and crane operators for the JIT offload on site. The first piece had a weight of 59,000 kg and a dimension of 7.0m x 2.90m x 2.27m
Origin from: ITSVN (Savona port) / POD: Freeport TX USA/ Delivery to: Job site Austin TX. Plus, additional cargo 7 x 40’ OT SOC
For this we nominated one of our most reliable carrier/truckers, who never lets us down.

Total Movements transport Vacuum Tower along the Indian Coastline

This Door-to-Port complex movement of 375 Ton Vacuum Tower by GPLN member Total Movements from India, from the western to the eastern coast of India had to overcome significant logistical and environmental challenges.
Our comprehensive logistics scope included picking up the cargo from supplier’s works, transporting it to the load port on the western coast, coastal shipping to the discharge port on the eastern coast of India, and managing the discharge process.
Key highlights of this challenging operation include:
1. Opted for Multimodal (Road + Coastal) shipping to bypass geographical and infrastructural constraints
2. Critical oversized cargo dimensions of 55.73 x 10 x 9.45 meters (L x W x H)
3. Customized transport configuration & mobilized suitable equipment to adhere to weight and space restrictions at the load port
4. Obtained 16 electric line shutdowns along the route, enabling smooth passage without compromising safety
5. Major civil works at critical turning points, including deploying 100+ steel plates to stabilize weak sections and ensure safe manoeuvring
6. Mitigated weather impacts as the movement was conducted in monsoons
7. Chartering a Super Heavy Lift vessel and converting it to an Indian-flagged vessel for coastal shipping
8. Executed seamless double banking operations at the discharge port under stringent Marine Warranty Surveyor supervision
These engineered solutions are a testament to our team’s commitment, agility, and technical expertise in executing complex multimodal logistics with precision.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all stakeholders for their unwavering support in making this complex project a success.

Total Movements handle Coke Drums

GPLN member Total Movements from India also successfully executed the Multimodal, Door-to-Door Movement of 2 x 643 MT Coke Drums, totalling over 10,200 FRT, for a key project at one of the largest oil refineries in India.
Our scope involved Road Transportation from Supplier’s Factory to the nearest Jetty, Rolling-on the Drums onto the Barge, Barging to the port closest to the refinery site, inland delivery and placement to the Foundation.
The operation required meticulous planning and coordination, given the massive dimensions and weight of the cargo. Key highlights and challenges included:
- End-to-end multimodal coordination, including marine and inland logistics
- Operations carried out during foul weather and heavy monsoon rainfall, demanding strict safety controls
- Navigating tide constraints at both ports
- Securing Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS) approvals for the sea voyage
- Managing road transportation challenges due to poor infrastructure and ODC movement restrictions
Despite the odds, the entire movement was executed smoothly and safely, within the committed timelines.
A big thank you to our client for their continued trust, and sincere appreciation to all the stakeholders who contributed to the success of this operation.
